Police: Woman drove into crowd of school children
SUMMERVILLE — Police say a woman drove into a crowd of children this morning after they refused to move out of the way of her car.
Summerville Police charged Amy Lynn Stewart, 34, with four counts of assault and battery in the first degree, Capt. Jon Rogers said.
Rogers said a group of children was walking to Alston Middle School on the shoulder of the road about 8 a.m. when a vehicle approached them at the intersection of Tulip Drive and Iris Street. There is no sidewalk at the intersection.
The driver honked her horn and when the children didn’t move she drove into the crowd, striking four of the children: one 14-year-old, two 13-year-olds, and one 12-year-old, Rogers said.

If they were behaving like the little juvenile delinquents in my neighborhood do, I can't entirely blame her. They block the entire road and refuse to move for vehicles. Blowing the horn gets you flipped off, asking them out the window gets you called names and threatened. If something similar happened in my area, the kids would be guaranteed to paint themselves on the side of the angels. "We wuz jus walkin to skool an dis crazy beyotch up an' run down {enter three or four completely unpronounceable names}." Of course, I had gunshots going off in the area last night, too.
