DETROIT - A Detroit man has been found guilty in the slaying of a city police officer gunned down after kicking in the door of a suspected drug house.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says a circuit court jury returned its verdict Wednesday against Jason Gibson.

Gibson was charged with first-degree murder and assault in the May 3, 2010, shooting of Officer Brian Huff, who was shot twice in the head at the door of the vacant east side duplex.

Prosecutors say Gibson was lying in wait when Huff and other officers responded to a 911 call about a possible breaking and entering.
