He Doesn't Need To Have Legal License Plates - He's Marion Barry!
D.C. Councilmember Marion Barry has been driving around for more than six months in a silver 2002 Jaguar with license plates that were registered to a BMW that the former Mayor no longer owns.
According to the Washington Post, Barry sold the BMW to a person in Prince George's County, and switched the plates to his Jaguar, which is not registered at all with the city's Department of Motor Vehicles.
After initially refusing to speak with the Post about the matter, Barry later released a statement through a representative, saying that the dealership that Barry bought the car from had misplaced the Jaguar's title and is working on another getting another one. The representative says Barry plans to register the vehicle as soon as the title is available.
Driving an illegally licensed car has not proven to be much of an issue for Barry. He reported the car stolen last December, and it was returned to him three days later by police, despite the fact fact that the tags were inactive. Earlier this month, the car was booted by city parking control officers, but was removed after Barry paid off several parking tickets.

Here they wouldn't have released the car from impound, even a recovered steal, until you show valid registration and insurance. Well, that's not completely true. We would let you tow it away with proof of ownership.

Well getting caught smoking crack didn't do much to him. Running an illegal tag is peanuts.

Hell... The law is only a suggestion to Marion Barry anyway. Taxes? Those are for little people. Even while on probation for not paying them. Get robbed in a drug deal? Not Marion's fault. Not to mention his repeated issues with cocaine...
And the real hell of it? He could almost get elected as mayor of DC again! He won't lose his 6th District seat until about 3 years after he's dead...Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.
