"I heard the hiss, and then I looked down and I seen the alligator on the ground," the 17-year-old told abcactionnews.com. "I ran. I didn't look back."
Williams said the gator, which he estimates was between six and seven feet long, took a bite out of his baggy pants before he ran.
The gator's teeth tore large holes in the fabric, but Williams and his mom believe that if his pants weren't baggy, he might have lost a leg.
"That was the advantage of wearing baggy pants that day," said mom Tanita Murray. "It's dangerous. If a toddler had been standing there, it (the alligator) would have bit his neck or head."
