MAGISTRATES have locked up a prolific Lincoln church burglar who carried out 38 offences, including stealing fire extinguishers.
Thomas Colley, 18, formerly of Sibthorpe Street, Lincoln, was put in a young offenders institution for eight months after previously pleading guilty to three separate charges of burglary, attempted burglary and criminal damage.
He also asked for a further 35 crimes, including eight church break-ins, to be taken into account.
Prosecutor Jim Clare said that on March 14, the occupant of a flat above Eskimoo and MSR newsagents in St Mark Street was woken when two people tried to break into his flat.

Miss Hanrahan added that since being in prison custody had become much more of a deterrent for her client.
"He's been bullied since his first day in custody," she said.
"Other prisoners steal his property from his cell and covered his bed in water so he couldn't sleep comfortably.
