Police: Man had torture room in home
SEATTLE, April 20 (UPI) -- A Washington state man charged with abducting and torturing a woman had a soundproof torture room in his home, Seattle police said Wednesday.
John Hauff Jr., 66, of Tacoma had equipped the room with chains, paddles, belts and what police believe was equipment to give victims electric shocks, KATU-TV, Portland, Ore., reported.
Hauff was arrested last week after a Seattle woman reported she had gone willingly to his house April 2 for what he said would be sexual role playing, court documents said. He allegedly bound and gagged her and then spent hours torturing her.
The woman said Hauff let her go after she told him she had texted his license number and address to a friend. He gave her money on top of their agreed on amount and dropped her off.
