GLENDALE, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police have arrested a 41-year-old caregiver who allegedly beat an 83-year-old woman with a metal folding chair, nearly to death.

Luis Cuevas of Glendale was arrested early Monday in connection with the assault inside the woman's home along the 1800 block of Verdugo Knolls Drive, police said.

Investigators say Cuevas stormed into the woman's room as she was getting ready to sleep around 1 a.m. Monday and accused her of trying to kill his sister.


Neighbors told police they heard Cuevas yell, "Don't move" and "Pistola," which means gun in Spanish, the Glendale News Press is reporting. Cuevas allegedly struck the 100-pound woman with a folding chair several times. He's also accused of punching her during the attack.
