DUI suspect's tongue gets him in trouble
Caught speeding and driving drunk? Not a good idea to lick the police officer's computer.
California Highway Patrol Officers Michael Ball and Nick Herman stopped Olan Yahal Mitchell, 27, for speeding in a Toyota Scion on Cleveland Avenue near Highway 101 in Santa Rosa at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.
Mitchell, who the officers believed was driving under the influence, refused to submit to field sobriety tests and was put in the front seat of the CHP cruiser.
"While seated, Mitchell began to lick the keyboard of the officer's computer," CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said. "The officer ordered Mitchell to not interfere with any equipment. Mitchell repeated this behavior, and the officer reached in to move the computer out of his reach."
That's when Mitchell kicked the officer, prompting both officers to restrain him and put him the back of a "caged" patrol cruiser, Sloat said.
