Because we all know when the government drops charges in a plea deal it means they never happened. And people plead guilty to 20 year deals because they are innocent and there's no evidence against them.John is entirely innocent of any involvement in the terror attacks, or any allegiance to terrorism. That is not disputed by the American government. Indeed, all accusations of terrorism against John were dropped by the government in a plea bargain, which in turn was approved by the US district court in which the case was brought.
The guy was a part of the Taliban Army, which as we all know traveled around Afghanistan distributing teddy bears and hugs in the name of Allah.

aaahh .... poor misunderstood little Johnny Jihad. He is lucky and a sorry POS. Strong parents such as his need to focus on the courage of their beliefs (whatever they do stand for, if anything) and let someone else raise their child and instill some values. Johnny's mommy and daddy do not understand the cold cruel world they released him into without a compass. Too many kids like him that were raised by permissive parents are obtaining their lifetime/adult set of values in prisons. Whining, blaming, excuses.......daddy's article is full of it.
I don't think treason has been charged by the US recently and the last execution for treason against the US was in 1942, Hans Haupt, a US naturalized and former German citizen was executed for espionage. Norway shot Vidkun Quisling in 1945 for Treason. Quisling's career was betrayal of every political group he was associated with.
