SAN DIEGO – Police cordoned off streets around a City Heights strip mall early Wednesday morning after responding to a report of a burglary in progress at a gun and ammunition store.
Police got a call about a burglary alarm at the California Police Equipment store on El Cajon Boulevard near 41st Street around 3:38 a.m. and found one man on the roof, along with several weapons and ammunition believed to be taken from the store, said San Diego police Sgt. Jim Schorr.

They arrested that man, who told police he had an accomplice still inside the building, Schorr said.
“They heard noises inside and believe there is one inside,” Schorr said.

Officers have closed El Cajon Boulevard between 41st Street and 42nd Street.

According to its Web site, California Police Equipment is a leading retailer of firearms and police equipment that is open to the public. It has been in business since 1990.
