Bank robber says she deserved to get shot because she pointed her machine pistol at police chief before he shot herJust before she and her two brothers were captured after a manhunt lasting more than a week, Lee Grace Dougherty pointed her machine pistol at a Colorado police chief, but the chief fired his .40-caliber handgun first, wounding her in the right upper thigh, according to an investigator's affidavits released Thursday.
"I pointed the gun at the cop," Dougherty told the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent Christian L. Mohr.
"I deserved to get shot," Dougherty, 29, told authorities, according to Mohr's affidavit. "The cop said drop the gun."

I remember reading the intel report on this with the admonition that they were last seen in Georgia, but they could be anywhere in the US. While I gave it due regard, I specifically remember thinking to myself..."there's no way these guys would end up here." when I saw them on the news, I could not. Freaking. Believe. It. Never again. Every BOLO gets treated like it's local!

She pointed her MACHINE PISTOL??? I am just a little curious as to what type MACHING PISTOL she had. Lets see now, one of those Glock conversion jobs? A WWII German P-38, a Czech scorpion? Or just the media showing their ignorance about weapons. The news article did say submachine gun; not Machine Pistol.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
