Oakland hosts cannabis street fair where medical marijuana can be smoked right in front of City Hall
A cannabis street fair touted as the first in the nation is set for this weekend, featuring speakers, music, booths and vendors. But perhaps the most unusual attraction will be the "215 area," a designated spot directly in front of City Hall where those with a valid medical cannabis card will be able to ingest, smoke or vaporize their pot. There will be devices to help folks make their own hash, a marijuana derivative. The open-air lounge, so to speak, is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
The "215" in the name is a reference to Proposition 215, the 1996 state ballot measure that legalized personal use of medical marijuana.
"Patients need to take their medicine when they need to," said Kim Cue, a Berkeley resident who is chief executive of the International Cannabis & Hemp Expo, which starts Saturday at noon. "Being a patient myself, that's something that's mandatory."

Making hash oil is still a felony in CA. 215 card or not. I would love to see the Feds there busting everyone. I know anytime we ran into medical mj at my old agency they were arrested. Out of the thousands of medical mj people I've dealt with down there I haven't seen a single "recommendation" for a legitimate reason.

I'm so glad I don't live in a medical mj state.
But really, I might as well as it already is. Possession of less than 42.5 g of MJ in MN is just a petty misdemeanor, punishable by a fine only. The same as a speeding ticket. It's not even criminal. No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

We had Phish play a 3-day concert over the weekend. Our PD is literally 100 yards from the venue. We had "Shakedown Street" (google it) literally outside of one of our lobbies. Pretty much the same thing.

We have a radio station around here in Central CA that makes it a point to announce in the afternoon when it is 4:20.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, more advances and things to celebrate in the medical field. Why not have an iodine street fair? Or a penicillin street fair?

Because those fair's don't make the proper statement. At a marijuana fair not only are the cops there but they are basically providing security. LOL
