A man has died during an apparent botched attempt to steal marijuana in a wooded area near Lower Lake, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
The identity of the man, located Tuesday in a ravine, has not been released.
His alleged accomplice, Salvador Mosqueda, 20, of Stockton, reported his friend had fallen into a steep ravine late Monday night, sheriff's authorities said.
Under questioning, Mosqueda said the pair were attempting to steal marijuana near Big Canyon Road when they heard an ATV approach, authorities said.
