Jurors award detective $700,000 including punitive damages from his city that fired him
more here: NWCN.com Washington - Oregon - IdahoJurors awarded 43-year-old Jay Mehring more than $700,000 including punitive damages.
Mehring sued the City Of Spokane for what he called a civil rights violation.
Mehring says Spokane Police Chief Ann Kirkpatrick had no right to fire him in 2007 following allegations he threatened to kill his wife during a messy divorce.
In October of 2008 a jury acquitted him on those claims.
