Three Roanoke County high school students have been arrested on a field trip to New York City. Two Cave Spring High School seniors--both boys--and a girl from Hidden Valley High School face nine felony charges each, including reckless endangerment, assault and criminal mischief.

The three Roanoke County teenagers were on an art field trip to New York when they allegedly broke into a supply closet and took cans of paint.

They got onto the roof of the Doubletree Metro Hotel at Lexington and 51st street. City police report the students were tossing the one-gallon cans of paint into the street around 5:00 Sunday morning.

The hotel is directly across the street from the NYPD's 17th Precinct. One paint can hit a patrolman on duty, striking him in the eye. Two more cans struck police cars. Three police scooters were damaged along with an officer's personal vehicle.

Eighteen year old Tyler Moore, Junior of Fawn Dell Road and 18-year old Sean McGhee of Cave Spring Lane were charged along with the 17-year old from Hidden Valley. News-7 is not identifying her because of her age.
