BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
An arrest has been made in the shooting in Baton Rouge that was a close call for police officer late Wednesday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Michael Joseph, 41, was arrested at his home and a gun was recovered.

He will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the following charges:

Attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer

Illegal use of a dangerous weapon

Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number

The police officer's name was not released, but he is 29 years old and has been with the patrol division for four years.

The shooting happened just before midnight near Sycamore Street and Maple Drive, which is in north Baton Rouge.

Authorities said the officer was shot at several times around 11:59 p.m.
