SAN DIEGO – Police detained four people for questioning early Thursday after a customer and a clerk at an Exxon gas station in Rancho Peñasquitos were robbed by two men shortly before 11 p.m.
Police said two men wearing scarfs over their faces, one of them carrying a long, curved knife, took cash and several boxes of cigarettes from the station on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard near Interstate 15 Wednesday night before driving away in a white SUV.

The men also confronted and took cash from a customer in the robbery, which was reported around 10:50 p.m., police said.
Police said officers learned the identity of one of the suspects and spotted four people riding in a white Toyota 4Runner shortly after midnight on Oly Saybrook Drive in Rancho Peñasquitos. They pulled the car over and detained the four men inside.
