CANTON —
A 19-year-old man remained behind bars Monday, held in lieu of $1 million bond after throwing a Molotov cocktail at his mother and threatening to light another, Stark County Jail records said.

Police called around 7 p.m. Monday to quell a fight between Malcolm A. Varner of 406 Hazlett Ave. NW, and his brother during a fight at their home, jail records said. They live in a tri-plex that was occupied at the time.

Canton police records said Varner had a knife when he threw a Molotov cocktail at his mother, but it did not explode. Then, he threatened to light the house on fire with the device, the records said.
