Take a look at the pic in this article. This Deputy's guardian angel was riding with him for sure.
Glad he's ok.

SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I reckon sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
When hurricane Isabel came through central Virginia a few years back, one of our officers was driving down a quasi-residential street when a tree fell in front of her cruiser. Then one fell behind her cruiser. Then trees started falling in between the two fallen trees. She finally got out of the car, in a freakin hurricane, and crossed the road into a field. Not a minute later, a tree flattened her cruiser. The world would be much cleaner if blind people carried brooms instead of sticks.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction. Those bastards won't get away this time.
