SHELBY COUNTY, Alabama -- A man wanted on numerous felony warrants has been flown by helicopter to UAB Hospital in Birmingham after U.S. Marshals wounded him during capture this morning on Interstate 65 south of Birmingham.
The man was taken into custody about 10 a.m. on I-65 southbound near the 230 mile marker at Calera by the US Marshal's fugitive task force and Shelby County Sheriff's deputies. Task Force members used force to apprehend the man, said a press release issued by Shelby County sheriff's officials. No task force member was injured.
