Obama makes surprise visit to Afghanistan

On his third trip to Afghanistan since taking office, Obama met with President Hamid Karzai and will make a televised address at 7:30 p.m. ET.

If the trip was unannounced how is it that the news media is covering it?

A few years back (I wanna say 2005) George Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq on thanksgiving to serve the troops dinner. No one knew he was going other then like 3 people and the pilots of AF1. It was not till he was on the ground that anyone was told that he was there. National Geographic talked about it on one of their specials about AF1.
In this case Obummer took the media with him and did it to try to further bill him self as the one who took out Bin Laden. It was just a stunt for him to try to make him self look better.
