London police may move out of Scotland Yard due to budget cuts
t's not in Scotland. And it's missing a front yard. But anyone who has read a Sherlock Holmes novel can tell you that Scotland Yard equals London police.Perhaps no longer.London's police force may move from its headquarters, known as New Scotland Yard, as it faces making budget cuts of more than 500 million pounds ($800 million).

As it will apparently take £50 million to update it, probably better to move.
looking at moving it closer to parliament. Well it's politicians who will now make day to day policing decisions so why not!the sole advantage of power is that you can do more good.

New Scotland Yard, where they are now and have been since about 1969, is rented from a private company called Land Securities. The original Scotland Yard is still owned by the Met Police and is still in use as offices and a Mounted Branch stable, is actually called Great Scotland Yard.
