At least two people were killed and as many as 120 injured in Thanksgiving pileups involving an estimated 100 cars on a foggy stretch of highway in southeast Texas, authorities said.

Fog means put on your high beams, speed up and see how many multi vehicle crashes can be caused. It's not fun unless emergency services are stretched beyond capacity.

Can you imagine writing the state traffic accident report on that before they were all computerized?

I assisted on a nineteen vehicle pile-up on I-10 years ago. Heavy fog and smoke. Couldn't see more than about 20-30 feet at best. It was actually several separate crashes involving a total of nineteen vehicles, all within a roughly quarter-mile distance.

Five fatals/20-plus hospitalized.

Sure was glad I was only assisting. LA State Troopers did the investigations. And yes Jim, this was WAAAAY before computerized reports. Glad it was the State's "baby".
