Badges? That don't make no Difference
It seems the involved officers/detectives handled the situation fairly well & I applaud the Chief's response.
On Jan. 1, 2013, at approximately 10 a.m. five on duty detectives from the Belleville Police Department were eating at Denny's Restaurant, 1130 S. Illinois St., Belleville. Shortly after receiving their food orders, the restaurant manager David Rice approached and advised the female detective present that she needed to take her weapon out to her car or leave the restaurant.

It is quite simple to withdraw trade from an establishment. I would hope that the management advice that officers are not allowed to use the restaurant isn't required.
I extend my withdrawl of trade to companies where staff refuse or fail to co operate in investigations."all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" Edmund Burke.

Dumbass manager. I can understand talking to them after receiving a complaint. Problem should have been solved when they identified themselves. Worst case act for the manager, he calls the cops. Uniforms respond, ID the detectives & everyone sits down to lunch and has a laugh. Or he asks, they ID, and ask him to keep it low profile, and the manager tells the concerned customer that he's spoken with them, and they're OK.
But asking them to put the gun in the car? Maybe -- and ONLY maybe -- if they were civilians with CCW cards. In which case, I wouldn't blame them for walking out, never to darken the restaurant's door step.Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.
