How many days in court after a midnight shift and followed by another shift? How many Christmases and holidays worked while children were at home waiting? How many Little League games and school plays missed because of mandatory over time?

With the size he is, he'd make great cover for real cops to get behind.

He either needs to put on a uniform, check out a unit, get rid of the cameras and go to work or disappear.

He only ever made one decent film. Under Siege, and that was mostly because of the cake scene.

I gave him credit a couple of years ago when it first came out that he'd been doing this for years without saying anything. He burned through that, especially with that "reality" series following him around.
I give Shaquille O'neal a lot more credit. He's consistently been involved in the reserves or equivalent units throughout his career, and I have it on very reliable authority that he actually fought to not be a mere photo op, but to go through the training and actually be able to work as a reserve.Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

Hype. He held a "good ole boy" commission with former Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee for a very long time. Lee was a popular sheriff his entire career but commissions are handed out around here like beads at Mardi Gras. He has been more of a cop in any of his movies than he ever was "on the street". "Has been" being the operative phrase. He is skilled without doubt in martial arts and shooting and that I will give him credit for.

The way I look at it, every celebrity has a fan base, and as long as they portray us in a positive light to that base, it does no harm. A few years ago, everyone had a hissy-fit over some B-grade "celebrities" that did a police "reality" series, and from what I saw, it was pretty good PR for the most part. They weren't showing cops in a negative light.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.
Winston Churchill
