parents allege school discrimination against transgender 1st grader
Colorado school bars transgendered 1st-grader from using girls' restroom - CNN.com
A Colorado first grader was born as a boy. The parents say he is transgendered, he dresses as a girl and identifies as "female". In December the student's school district determined that he cannot use the female restroom. He can use the boys, gender neutral faculty or nurses bathrooms. The school is also willing to refer to him as "her". The parents announced they will file a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Division. The parents lawyer says the school barring the boy from using the girls bathroom is "targeting her for stigma, bullying and harassment". The link shows a picture of the boy, dressed as a girl, with dyed purple hair.

The parents should have to rent a port-o-poty for their little girl/boy to use at the school.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

At 6 years old, kids aren't really aware of gender as it applies to sexuality. So what if the kid wants to play with dolls or trucks, the Barbie dolls I was given as a kid were most likely to be stripped and have their hair cut off, they were hostages til G.I. Joe and The Bionic Man came to rescue them. I'm thinking the parents in this case just really wanted a daughter.

Yeah at what age is a kid really able to have a real concept of sexuality/gender issues like that? Is that just a kid that likes to pretend? Or are the kid's parents getting him to assume a female identity for their own reasons? Or could this kid already have enough understanding to truly believe they are a girl trapped in a boy's body? I don't understand much about adults who identify as transgender, let alone 6 year olds. But I suppose unless he has surgery or gets some declaration from a judge stating otherwise, he still is legally a male. That kid will have a stigma no matter what.

I think they would be in for more legal action if they had allowed it. Like in industry when you work out the likely cost of a safety problem against the cost of litigation in the event of an incident.
Lawyers, accountants, rights groups and politicians we would be better off without them."all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" Edmund Burke.

The only thing I can believe in this whole issue is that a lawyer actually took up the case.
