Oldest cold case to garner conviction
Excellent story about the tenacity of the investigators, in continuing to seek the truth in this story.
December 1957- 7 y/o Maria Ridulph goes missing, massive investigation launched, with J. Edgar Hoover requesting daily updates.
April 1958-Body was found, no proper autopsy performed.
+30 years, dying mother states the guilt of her son, former Air Force and Army veteran, and former police officer. He has a history of questionable encounters with young women, including one that cost him one of his police jobs.
Dec 2012, convicted by bench trial, on circumstantial and hearsay evidence, including hearsay evidence that the two witnesses could not agree on. Incriminating hearsay evidence was allowed, while potentially exonerating (a slight stretch...maybe) hearsay evidence was not.
Taken: The coldest case ever solved
