No good deed – at least those performed by kids - goes unpunished in Easttown these days. Except the punishment – a “ticket” issued by a cop – is hardly that.

This summer Easttown (PA) Police officers are stopping kids for doing something good and issuing tickets for free ice cream.

“I think kids look at the officer’s uniform and it tends to be a little scary,” said Easttown Police Chief Dave Obzud. “We’re trying to get kids to be more comfortable with us, to come up to us and interact with us.”

Kids can be cited for anything from wearing elbow pads while skateboarding to stopping their bikes at stop signs to selling curbside lemonade, he said.
