Winter storm moving across the countryThe wicked wintry weather that pummeled the West Coast is now barreling across the country, threatening to wreck millions of holiday travel plans just before Thanksgiving. The storm has already contributed to at least 10 traffic fatalities.Nearly 400 flights have been canceled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area -- not exactly a bastion for snowstorms. Sleet and freezing rain will keep blanketing parts of the Southern Plains and Southern Rockies on Monday. And after the storm deluges parts of the South with rain Monday evening, it'll start zeroing in on the Northeast, the National Weather Service said. And that could spell more travel nightmares.
It's not just the bad timing that has travelers riled up. In many of the places, this kind of weather isn't supposed to happen.CNN affiliate KTVT
"This is not Texas weather, man," driver Ron Taylor told. "This is Alaska, or Idaho."

We got a taste of it. 3 days below freezing; rain & sleet; with a stiff North wind. Our guys worked over 100 wrecks in 24 hours.
Luckily, I had taken vacation. On the flip side, it was so I could go hunting & sitting out in that weather is not my idea of an enjoyable hunt. So my old bones stayed home in front of the fireplace.Blessed are the the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. MATT 5:10

Cold and wet here with a chance of sleet/snow tonight. It's not supposed to stick or cause problems though.

We responded to a drunken disturbance involving one of our regular customers last night. As my Sgt. was knocking on the front door, I was watching the suspect through a window and I saw him pick up a shot gun. He racked a round and shouted for the Sgt. to come on in. I shouted that the guy had a gun, we all went diving for cover, and then we got to stand in 5 degrees with a brisk windchill while the suspect barricaded himself in the house. After about a 15 minute stand off the guy came out with his hands up and surrendered. Why is it when these morons do these kinds of things its always nighttime, it's freezing cold, or it's snowing snowing, or pouring raining, etc?
