Driver has speeding charge thrown out after claiming speed sign was wrong color
From the United Kingdom.........
A DRIVER had a speeding charge thrown out after arguing that road signs were the wrong colour.
Trevor Faulkner was clocked doing 43mph in what police claimed was a 30mph zone.
But the 64-year-old doctor of philosophy said the speed limit sign was illegal as it had yellow backgrounds instead of the normal white ones.
Retired computer engineer Mr Faulkner took pictures of signs along the road where he was stopped in Leeds to back his six-month fight.
Magistrates dropped the case after police offered no evidence.
Mr Faulkner, from Cheshire, said: "They could not have made it stand up in court."
Police added: "The sign did not meet the requirements of an enforceable speed limit."

Absolutely right. We had all our school crossing patrols change their signs. They had a black rubber strip round the edge for safety. Regs don't mention a border so it had to come off for it to be a lawful sign.

Did somebody steal road signs from Sweden?
They are like any other European signs, but with a yellow background rather than white.

Crazy, but true! Yellow or green "precautionary" signs in our state cannot be enforced. They are merely a suggestion. Also, I had a stop sign violation thrown out once because the sign wasn't tall enough! The statute states a stop sign must be eight feet from ground level to the top of the sign. Amazing what lengths some people will go to in order to make a point. Maybe you should just quit driving like a jackass! **Interesting sidebar: I wonder how much time and money that guy invested in lost wages, film, lawyers, etc just to get out of a fine that was probably, oh say, a hundred bucks tops.?!?
