Why do these people never learn???? I mean WTF????
Shopper Arrested For Leaving Kids Inside Car
(CBS) NEWBURY PARK, Calif. A Thousand Oaks mother has been arrested, accused of leaving her kids in a hot car while she shopped.
Authorities say 37-year-old Karen Allen allegedly left her two boys, ages 1 and 4, in her Honda Accord for more than 15 minutes as she shopped at a Newbury Park Target store on Thursday.
Captain Ron Nelson of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department says the car's windows were cracked, but temperatures inside the car were higher than 110 degrees.
Nelson says the kids were sweaty and hot, but otherwise healthy.
Allen has been arrested for investigation of felony child endangerment and is out on $50,000 bail.

We had pretty much the same thing occur back in April of 1996. Except the girl left the kids in the car while she was in a fast food restaurant working. I recall the exact month because the charge had to be dismissed. The girl's defense attorney put me between a rock and hard spot. And the commonwealth attorney was scared to take it to trial.
(The same officers who arrested the above girl had two weeks earlier, 600 feet from the above offense, left my 4-year-old daughter in my car..... on the side of a busy highway..... totally unattended for 45 minutes. There was no way I could have gone to court and committed perjury.)

She's probably one of the hundreds of thousands of people nationwide that steal stuff to put in Flea Markets and yard sales. My wife went to a Flea Market last week and came home with all sorts of stuff, still new in the box and never used. Dirt cheap. One new item she bought was a real nice break baker. Still new in a brand new box. For $5.00. I'll bet the thing costs $80 to $100 if I went out looking for one tonight at Walmart.
A lot of our less fortunate do this foolishness where I live. A $300 yard sale or a $300 day at the Flea Market isn't bad business for them. Steal all week, sell it on the weekends.

They could hand out an instruction pamplet as you leave the maternity ward. Increase commercials on TV stations, radio stations, magazines, bill boards in regards to the dos and don'ts. Have free pamplets at all grocery stores, convenience stores, churches, clinics, high schools, colleges, doctor offices, bus lines, etc....
Recruit more volunteers to offer parenting courses and urge all parents to take the course. No parent is perfect.
Just a few thoughts in prevention.
A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

I had a case like this about 2 years ago. Woman left a 1yr old in the car while her and her other child and some friends went to a BBQ / swimming pool party. Not realizing that she locked her keys in the car and now couldn't get in so. We got a call. EMS & Fire were 5 - 10 out. So we busted the window on her car. To save the kids life. Then the stupid bitch asked " Do I talk to you or your boss to get my window fixed?" I looked at her and said you want us to replace your window? Her responce, well you broke it!
ARRRRRRRR
Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

06-05-06, 12:23 PM #14I know I would have got into trouble if I was on that call... I would have said, "Do I take you to jail or write you a ticket for endangering your child?" then I would tell her to talk to her Insurance company!!!

Come on adds are on the TV from the ASPCA tell people in summer time not to leave there dogs in the car and if they do to open a couple of window. People not hink it may have the same effect on there kids if left in a car. You may aswell stick them in a greenhouse while you go to work.
There are idiots in this world but some just abuse the privalage.
