Man Accused Of Bizarre Crime Headed To Mental Hospital
THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO THE MURDERER THAT I ARRESTED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO
SAN DIEGO -- A man accused of beating his roommate to death at an independent living facility will spend at least three years at a state hospital after being ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial for murder.
Michael Edward Jones, 45, who is accused in the May 9 death of Robert Griffin, 50, refused to come out of his jail cell for the competency hearing before Judge Kerry Wells on Thursday.
After reviewing a doctor's report, Wells determined that Jones did not understand the charges against him and could not assist his attorney at trial.
