OCEANSIDE – Two men were shot in Oceanside early Saturday near the Camp Pendleton back gate area, authorities said.
The shooting was reported shortly before 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Arthur Avenue, near North River Road, Oceanside fire Battalion Chief Bob Cotton said.

One man was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla and the other was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center, Cotton said.
Both hospitals have trauma centers.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available
