429 tickets written in traffic crackdown
June 16, 2006
CHULA VISTA – Thirty-one patrol officers from around the county wrote 429 citations for motorists in Chula Vista yesterday for vehicle code violations such as speeding, making unsafe turns and not wearing seat belts.
The countywide Interagency Traffic Enforcement Team also impounded 14 cars because their drivers were found to not have valid licenses. The special enforcement program was conducted from 7 a.m. to noon, said Officer Fredrick Rowbotham of the Chula Vista Police Department.
Participating in the program were officers from National City, La Mesa, El Cajon, San Diego, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Coronado, Escondido and Chula Vista.
The focused enforcement program has netted wide praise, Rowbotham said, and police plan to repeat it periodically to enhance safety.

Thats very cool. Every so often we will have Governers Safety week/month. The Gov. authorizes extra funds be given to the PD's and that allows us overtime to do these things. During the times of the safety period, we cant write and warnings (Code 4's) only citations.
And yes...you can get so much stuff from a brokentail light or lisence plate not illuminated.
