Four teens charged in attack using artificial leg
Four teens charged in attack using artificial leg
By Dan Ponce
July 20, 2006 - Four Chicago-area teenagers are facing battery charges after police say they attacked a 15-year-old boy and used his artificial leg to hit a friend who tried to defend him.
Three of the teens were charged as adults and were released yesterday after posting one-thousand dollars bond. A 16-year-old was charged as a juvenile and was released to his parents.
Police say the victim was playing basketball in suburban Burbank when the teens shoved him to the ground and removed his prosthetic leg.
Authorities say one of the attackers used the leg to strike another man in the head when he came to the victim's rescue.
Police say the victims identified the teens in a lineup.
The 15-year-old said he is unhappy that they have been released and is afraid they may seek retaliation.
