Bank Robberies Up Dramatically in North Texas
FBI Wants Help In Nabbing Serial Bank Robbers
Two Robbers Wanted For At Least 23 Bank Robberies In Texas

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The FBI needs your help putting in federal prison two serial bank robbers who pulled off almost two-dozen bank heists.
Bank robberies are up dramatically in North Texas, to 131 so far this year compared to 59 this time last year.
"This has been an unbelievable year for bank robberies," FBI Supervisor Special Agent Lori Bailey said.
The FBI hopes someone recognizes the "envelope bandit" and the "backpack bandit." They work separately but are wanted for a total of at least 23 bank robberies in Texas.

"They seem to be in a groove. When you hit that many times, I mean 16 robberies by one person is pretty much unheard of," Bailey said.
Surveillance photos show a backpack over the shoulder of the man who has hit at least 16 times. During one robbery he passes the teller a note inside his checkbook.
"I don't know if it's the heat making people crazy or if it's the tone of the financial situation here," Bailey said.
Investigators said the envelope bandit sometimes dresses down with a ball cap or wears business attire. He passes the teller an envelope to fill with cash and always hides his right hand or wears a glove.
"Don't know if there's some markings ... that might be identifiable to this person or if there's some sort of deformity or something like that. We're not sure," Bailey said.
The FBI said the backpack bandit hit a First Convenience Bank in Richardson in March.
Now agents are studying both robbers' traits and patterns to predict where they'll strike next.Last edited by TXCharlie; 07-28-06 at 02:41 PM.

I'm sure even if a local or state department gets them the FBI will find a way to take credit for it.
Feel safe everyone the FBI is coming to the rescue

On a side note, I'd think by now they would have caught them. Now I'm willing to bet every bank teller in TX knows what they look like now, only a matter of time before they get caught. I just hope no one gets hurt.

2nd career for Tiger

Of course none of this tops the record of 60 sucessful holdups by the "Takeover Bandits", the last of which ended in a machine gun spree down city streets in Richardson & Plano - But they got away and then one of them sorta jumpped into the net when he walked into a Police Station, claming mistaken identity
