Camp Counselors at Christian summer camp accussed of playing explicit games with boys

JENNERSTOWN, Pa. - Two counselors at a Christian summer camp were accused of playing sexually explicit games with young boys at a cabin, police said.

Eric James Rumbaugh, 18, of Pompton Plains, N.J., and Simeon Harrar, 19, of Due West, S.C., were charged Friday with child endangerment, indecent exposure and corruption of minors in incidents between July 7 and Friday, authorities said.

A 14-year-old boy who attended the Jenner Township camp - Summer's Best Two Weeks - told his mother counselors would swing naked from the rafters of the cabin, which contained 10 boys, and also played a game that involved inappropriate touching, authorities said.

"They're really some quality guys who made some very poor decisions, and unfortunately didn't discern what was appropriate with regard to these 10 boys," said the camp's executive director, Kent Biery. "The bottom line is, we can't have that here."

Rumbaugh and Harrar were each released on $10,000 unsecured bail, and preliminary hearings were scheduled for Aug. 7. Listed phone numbers for Rumbaugh and Harrar could not be found Saturday and it was unclear whether they had attorneys.

Summer's Best operates nondenominational camps at Lake Gloria and the Quemahoning Reservoir and serves about 3,000 campers per year.
