Chicago Police Find $1 Million Under Truck
(08.08.06 - AP) — Police in Chicago say they suspect the $1 million they confiscated over the weekend is drug money.
The cash was seized after officers found two men moving bundles of money from an SUV to a semi-trailer truck. The officers also confiscated more than $350,000 worth of drugs as part of the investigation.
The two men are charged with money laundering.
Frank Limon is chief of the police department's organized crime unit. And he says charging suspects with financial crimes is part of a tactic to hit drug dealers where it hurts — in the wallet.
The men charged in the incident are 36-year-old Romualdo Cordova of Mexico and 33-year-old Maximo Olivares of McAllen, Texas.
