North Texas Men Face Terrorism Charges

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Three men with ties to North Texas are under arrest and charged with supporting terrorism.

Police arrested the men in Michigan early Friday morning.

They were in a rented van with more than a thousand brand-new cell phones.

The men are ages 19, 21 and 23. They are charged with soliciting and providing terrorist support and obtaining information on vulnerable terrorist targets, police said.

NBC 5 has learned the suspects' Texas drivers' licenses state that they live in the Hillcrest Apartments in Mesquite.

A law enforcement source told NBC 5 investigators suspect the phones were headed overseas, where similar cell phones have been used to set off explosives remotely.

The FBI is investigating the case. The men are currently being held on state charges.

A hearing in the case was set for Saturday.
