'How's My Teen Driving?' Helps Parents Track Young Drivers

Parents of teenage drivers worry about their children while they are out on the roads. A local company has now created a way for parents to keep an eye on their teenagers.

Michael Gee, of Highland, invented "How's My Teen Driving?" which he modeled from "How's my Driver Doing?" Gee said he saw the latter on the back of all the commercial trucks and after research learned the companies dropped accidents and tickets by 25 percent, Local 4's Ruth to the Rescue reported.

For about $60 a year, parents can receive a yellow bumper sticker to put on their teenager's car. It has the company's phone number on it, and when other drivers see a teenager doing something dangerous or unsafe on the road, they call and report it.

The method is not all about tracking bad driving. If teenagers are performing well, the company wants to be able to send a report to the parents, according to Gee.

Teenage driver Patrick Moran said at first he didn't like the bumper sticker on his car, but has "gotten more used to it." He said he does drive more cautious because if he does something wrong, someone can tell his parents.

Interested parents can learn more about the bumper sticker by calling 866-5-MY-TEEN or online at www.5MyTeen.com.
