Three Heroes
On Sept. 11, 2001 30 New York State Court Officers resonded to the attack on the World Trade Center. Three Officers did not return. Capt William "Harry" Thompson, who I knew as a friend and worked with, was a Captain at our Academy. Senior Court Officer Thomas Jurgens was a member of the Reserves where he served as a Medic. At the time of the attack he was assigned to our perimeter patrol. Senior Court Officer Mitchel Wallace was new to our command. He was also a medic but was still making his bones in our Court. Wallace was on his way to report for duty when he saw the commotion at the Trade Center. He found our Officers and worked with them. SCOs Jurgens and Wallace were on the promotion list for Sergeant and wre posthumously promoted. These are their pictures:
