Man Slain After Quarrel In South Side Barbershop

No One In Custody As Of Thursday Morning

(STNG) CHICAGO A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in a Park Manor neighborhood barbershop late Wednesday.

The man was shot around 11 p.m. in the 400 block of East 75th Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The man was arguing with the shooter in the barbershop when the shooter pulled out a revolver, Greer said. The two men struggled for the gun and the shooter shot the man in the head and back, Greer said.

The shooter is only described as black man between 20 and 30 years old, Greer said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identified the man as Geno Moffett, of an unknown home address, according to an office spokesman. Moffett was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 11:50 p.m., the spokesman said.

While the medical examiner’s office says the man was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, police claim he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nobody was in custody at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Calumet Area detectives were investigating, but were not immediately available for comment.
