Tough decision: Take traffic ticket, or jump off a bridge. Guess what he picked...
The panicked driver faced a difficult choice: a ticket, or possibly worse - from a New Jersey state trooper who had chased him with siren wailing onto the Walt Whitman Bridge - or a plunge into the murky waters of the Delaware River 100 feet below.
He jumped.
Authorities said the unidentified male leaped from the bridge about 11:45 p.m. Sunday after the trooper pursued his gray Lincoln Navigator over Route 42 onto the bridge.
New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said the trooper had observed the SUV "driving erratically," failing to "maintain a lane," and going "at a high rate of speed," in the Bellmawr area.
The trooper "attempted to pull over the vehicle using lights and sirens," but the SUV continued onto the bridge, said Jones.
The Navigator stopped, the driver hopped out, and flung himself over the railing.
He "was lost to the trooper's sight," Jones said.
Within minutes, members of the Coast Guard, the New Jersey State Police, Delaware River Port Authority Police, the Camden and Gloucester City fire departments, the Philadelphia Fire Department and the Philadelphia Police Marine Unit raced to the scene.
The search for the man continued yesterday as Port Authority and state police boats scanned both sides of the river, said authority spokeswoman Danelle Hunter.
Police said a camera in the trooper's car recorded the incident. Jones said a police supervisor reviewed the footage and the trooper was back on the job yesterday.

Could it have been a
, trained to deceive law enforcement?
Yup, I think it was a Mission Impossible move to avoid capture. Clever little devils aren't they? I think he activated his mini scuba gear upon his plunge in and popped up downstream where a beautiful woman was waiting for him with fresh clothes and a sports car.
