Dog, Van and explosives stolen
Thieves steal dog and explosive
A military training van was stolen along with a sniffer dog.
A Ministry of Defence training van with an explosive and dog inside has been stolen from a Leicestershire village.
The white Ford Transit van was taken from Old Dalby where it was being used for a military training exercise on Wednesday afternoon.
The van from the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray contains a 2m fuse wire or cordex which can explode if set alight, Leicestershire police said.
Witnesses said the van was seen leaving the village accompanied by a white 4x4.
The MoD's Defence Animal Centre is the military's leading canine and equine training centre in the UK.
Inspector Rob Folwell, Commander of Melton Local Policing Unit said: "We are obviously keen to find the van and locate the length of cordex, which looks like washing line, because it could be dangerous if set alight.
"We are also concerned about the welfare of the dog; she is an 18-month-old black Labrador bitch and answers to the name of Jude."

The dog and van were found on Tuesday but the news story in the local paper didn't mention the explosives.
