A man who posted his own sex offender photo on myspace
WHEELING, W.Va. -- A man who posted his own sex offender registry photo on the social networking Web site MySpace.com is back behind bars.
Christian Paul Dutton, 47, was arrested in September for trespassing at an elementary school but was later released. He was arrested again Wednesday on charges of failing to register his MySpace account with State Police.
Dutton, who served more than six years after a 1984 conviction in Ohio for attempting to rape a woman he did not know, had registered on the Web site under the name "Bubba."
He is required to register as a sex offender for life.

This is just craziness. Sounds like they wanted to put him back in jail. If i'm not mistaken, he's in violation because he didn't register his myspace account?? wow!!

I don't know about this one. Since when is an internet account a "home" address. In NC and I believe all other states they are required to register where they live and work, not where they browse on the internet.

I would imagine that a condition of his release is not having contact with minors. A MySpace account is pretty significant contact I would say.

It probably is very significant. I don't use myspace, but my sister does and it just plain scares me, there are a lot of weird people out there (uhh Frank Harm is one that completely freaks me out, but i guess i grew up around him and found out the truth about him and got freaked out) But how many of them actually ARE minors....even though they might say that are....Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

Sex offenders have no place in our society anyway. Let 'em rot.

I, too, have a younger sister that uses Myspace. Some things you can ask your sister is if she has her privacy settings turned up/on. With these privacy settings nobody but her "friends" on the website can view her page. Furthermore, her last name or e-mail address is required to be known by a person who even requests to be her friend.
There's a lot of creeps on Myspace, but I think they're making an effort to avoid more problems.Calm Like A Bomb...

Well, i didn't want to invade her privacy but I did ask her if she had the security settings turned up. When she said yes, i decided to find out if it really was true.. I went through one of my friends and was able to pick up plenty of pictures of her from her other friends. From that there was links to her MySpace account. There are loopholes in just about everything. You don't even need to be a computer genious to figure some of them out....
I hope that things have changed since then, because I want to make sure that my sister stays safe and that she can protect herself from the creeps you will find on those websites.Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.
