Cpl. Kevin Orr Down (Utah)
GREEN RIVER, Utah-- Detective Cpl. Kevin Orr died in a helicopter crash Nov. 21 while searching for a missing woman, according to a press release issued by the Uintah County Sheriff's Department.
The helicopter flew into power lines and then dropped into the Green River around 12:50 p.m., according to the press release.
Detective Cpl. Orr was an 11-year veteran with the department and is survived by his wife and four children.
The missing woman, 25-year-old Kimberly Michelle Turney, was last seen in Jensen, Utah, Nov. 17 and is still missing. Detective Cpl. Orr was coordinating the search from the air and flying as an observer when the helicopter crashed, according to the press release.
The pilot, Brian Grayson of Reno, Nev., also was injured in the crash and is currently hospitalized.
An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Uintah County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
