Female Deputy Killed (Lousiana)

Two Washington Parish sheriff's deputies were shot -- and one was killed -- inside a motel room Monday afternoon.

Another man in the motel room was also shot and killed, officials said.

The Washington Parish sheriff hasn't released the name of the female deputy who was killed.

The male deputy who was shot has life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Both deputies had fewer than 18 months experience with the Washington Parish sheriff's office, and both worked transporting inmates at a nearby jail.

The assistant chief with the Franklinton Police Department told WDSU NewsChannel 6 that the triple-shooting happened inside the Liberty Inn Motel on Washington Avenue.

The sheriff's office said gunfire erupted when one deputy went to the motel to pick up some equipment from another deputy who lived there.

The Female deputy was living in the motel while seperated from the husband. The husband came to the motel and when the female deputy answered the door he opened fire killing her almost instantly the other officer was struck nine times before killing the husband. I am unsure of the officers condition at this time but do know he was transfered to New Orleans.

Damn, what a mess. RIP to the fallen officer, and a speedy and thorough recovery for the wounded officer.

Yvonne Deshotel was hit twice center mass and died instantly Jacob ,the other deputy was hit once in the arm before he could draw his weapon.In the ensuing battle over 100 total rounds were fired.Jacob managed to empty 3 -17 round mags,while dodging and withdrawing to the bathroom.Suspect hit 5 times,Jacob hit 6,and was still abel to open the door when troops arrived(No he isnt that big a fellow,probably about 5'8" and 170).Jacob is awake and talking and appears to be out of danger at this time.
misconceptions. The door to the room was OPEN.
Our transport units get the drdges of the fleet
and most have right at 200k miles .
Jacobs unit was broke down and he went to
borrow Yvonnes for his shift.
We will be burying Yvonne Monday.

We buried Yvonne today,and as a side note my mother in law died Saturday and we buried her today also.Yes I have been a busy little boy and there are several radars with "wtf" on their screens as I had to leave 1 and travel 65 miles to the next (with a change from class A glad rags to civilian "sad rags" in 60 minutes)Made it!!.

On a side,some info is still coming in,It appears ,from talking to a leo that just went from our dept.to the dept. whose jurisdiction this fell in ,that Yvonne did not go "quickly into the night" but that her passing was (is) on the 911 call that she made .She knew she was "going" and did so on the phone.
Having worked dispatch before,I pray that no dispatcher EVER has to listen to someone go online.
