Renton, Seattle Officer shot on duty for the second time in his career.

SEATTLE -- A Renton police officer is recovering from a bullet wound in the neck after he was shot Sunday night while chasing a suspicious man.
The suspect was arrested Monday morning after he entered a convenience store at about 2:15 a.m. A store clerk became suspicious and called 911 after the man asked for a ride, and the 58-year-old Edmonds man was jailed for investigation of assault, police said.
Police identified the officer as Larry Strauss, 49, a 20-year department veteran. Strauss was in stable condition after undergoing surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. "He is expected to recover," said Penny Bartley of the Renton Police Department.
Larry Strauss, received the medal of valor after he was shot during a domestic violence call in 1991.
Police said the suspect has a long criminal record and was wanted for investigation of burglary.
The episode began after an officer went to check on four people who darted across busy Rainier Avenue, a pedestrian violation, and entered a white Chevrolet van in a strip mall parking lot shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, Bartley said.
One of the men fled on foot, turned and shot the officer as he gave pursuit, she said.
The officer returned the gunfire, hit the emergency button on his service radio to summon help and gave some details of the shooting to police on the way to the hospital, she said.
The other three men were detained for questioning.
