Richmond officer dies in motorcyle crash

A motorcycle crash in Chesterfield has left a Richmond police officer dead. It happened overnight in the 1800 block of Genito Road at about 9:15 p.m. Monday.
Police do not know what led to that crash, but when they arrived they found the motorcycle driver dead on the scene. According to police, a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling on the westbound side of Genito Road when the driver lost control and hit a tree. Police, fire, and rescue crews arrived, but there was nothing they could do.
Police have identified the motorcycle driver as Thomas Wade Shook Jr. He was 35 years old and lived on the 1000 block of Clayton Road in Richmond.
