    Unhappy Trooper shot

Trooper Frank Garcia from Troop I in Louisiana was shot at 3:45am this morning. He made a traffic stop on I-10 east and took fire from a subject in the car. I don't know right now how bad his injury is but will update as I get information. Please keep Garcia and his family in your thoughts and prayers in their time of need. You just never know who you are gonna stop on any given night.

aye, ya know mine are out there too... got the BOLO with Franklin (both of us work dog shift)

suspect wasn't caught as of 0700, but cops are sitting on a residence that they think he's going to return to (hopefully)

    hate to be that guy...

much prayers go out to Garcia and his family, and many prayers go out to the d*ckhead that thought it would be a good idea to take a couple of shots at a cop... may his soul find itself in the depths of Hell...

    Trooper shot after traffic stop

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) -- A man stopped for a traffic violation shot a state trooper during a fight early Thursday, starting a manhunt by three state police troops and St. Martin Parish sheriff's deputies.

The officer, whose name was not released, was being treated for a moderate injury, said Trooper Will Williams, spokesman for state police Troop I in Lafayette.

Williams said the rented 2007 Chrysler Sebring which the officer had stopped at the foot of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge near Henderson was found in St. Martin Parish, and police were hunting for Tyrone Dwayne Mack, 37.

He is considered armed and dangerous. anyone who sees him should call police or the sheriff's office rather than approaching him, Williams said.

Williams would not say what moving violation Mack was stopped for, and did not know whether he has a police record.

Stayed out a couple of hours extra looking for this thug this morning. (Incident happened about 10 miles out of our zone). We made a stop on a vehicle matching, close but no cigar. As it was the asshole we stopped broke bad on us and came terribly close to getting 'glocked' up before realizing the error of his ways. (Common sense should tell a person that if the police stop you and take cover behind their units with weapons drawn, you don't jump out of the vehicle cursing and screaming at them).

Garcia took one in the leg with a .45, and got out of surgery about 10:00 am. He is expected to recover, and is doing well.

The vehicle was located abandoned South of I-10 near Butte La Rose, LA, about 6 miles from the scene. Suspect has yet to be apprehended as of noon today. We are going back in early to join the hunt in the Basin, in case the snakes and the gators missed him.

Another "routine traffic stop." Lets all use this to reinforce that there is no such thing as "routine." My prayers go out for the recovery of the officer, and the swift dispensation of justice for his assailant.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

If the car was abandoned in the middle of nowhere, then it's unlikely he's on foot. I'd guess he called someone to come pick his thug ass up. Too bad cell phone tech isn't what it is on TV.

    Update:

Trooper Garcia is reported in stable condition this evening. He was involved in a physical confrontation with the suspect encountered on a traffic stop. The struggle culminated in Garcia being shot. He did undergo surgery as noted previously, and is expected to recover. A manhunt for his assailant, identified as Tyrone Mack, is continuing currently in Baton Rouge, LA as it is believed that Mack was transported there after abandoning a 2007 Chrysler Sebring near the scene of the incident. An accomplice is reported to be currently in custody, who was arrested in Baton Rouge earlier today. As with all criminal investigations, further details will be forthcoming as made available.

We continue to offer prayers and thoughts to Garcia, with hopes for his speedy recovery and return to duty.
